RANGE RULES
Read and follow all range rules to keep your membership in good standing.

We strive to maintain a safe, orderly and efficient range operation, in so doing we ask that all participants strictly adhere to the range rules that have been established to protect our members, guests, community, and facilities.

The East Alabama Gun Club, LLC. (EAGC) in affiliation with the National Rifle Association (NRA) requires that all members read and retain a copy of the Rules and Regulations document for future reference. Please read this document often. Once you receive your membership card it is very important that you are aware of the following; 1. Please know and understand EAGC & NRA rules in (firearms) safety, which governs East Alabama Gun Club, LLC as a whole. 2. Please be sure that your guests understand and comply with the same rules in firearms safety. “YOUR GUEST IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY”.  Please keep a watchful eye on your family members and/or guests especially when handling firearms.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.        Eye and Ear Protection is MANDATORY on all EAGC ranges.  Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

2.        EAGC is a cold range and no gun shall be in a loaded condition except when on the firing line, and after loading, it shall be pointed downrange toward the backstop at all times until fired or unloaded.   Do not handle firearms outside of the pits or designated SAFE AREAS.  Do not walk around with a gun in your hand, loaded or not.  Any gun not holstered must have its action open when not being used.  (Any person who has a legal concealed carry permit and is not participating in a match is exempt from the above.)

3.        Each member must sign in at the gate with their name, date, and time of arrival, for each visit to the range.   Any guest with a member must also sign in and fill out a liability waiver prior to using the ranges.  Any member on the range that is not signed in will be asked to leave the range for the day by designated Range Officers.

4.        Each member must wear their membership badge so that it is visible at all times when on the grounds of EAGC and be able to present their drivers’ license to designated Range Officers upon request.  If a member is participating in a range event that is open to the public they are exempt from the above.

5.        No un-aimed fire or mag dumping.  All shots must be controlled and aimed.  Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

6.        ARs, AKs, carbines, shotguns, may be fired in the pistol pits, except for bays 1 and 7 where no rifles are allowed.  No aerial shots from shotguns allowed on any range.

7.        Only handguns designed for long range shooting allowed on the rifle range.

8.        When you arrive at the rifle range check to make sure no one is downrange checking targets.  Only after you have verified the range is clear downrange may you unpack your firearms and set up your bench.  Keep in mind that if you are down range checking your targets, you DO NOT want to look back and see someone who just arrived handling their firearms. “Think about it”. This safety rule goes beyond courtesy. Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

9.        DOWN RANGE COURTESY: Most members who are working on a gun and desire to check targets often (as much as every shot) usually try to use the range on an off day when they are by themselves. Conflicts may occur when precision shooters and plinkers use the range at the same time. Please talk to each other and try to reach a viable accommodation. The rule however is as follows: The rule is that the cease fire rule is in effect every time someone wants to go down range.

10.     The plate racks and other steel on the range are for standard pistol calibers only.  No rifles, magnums or slugs from shotguns allowed.  All steel MUST be shot from a distance of at least 10 yards.  Commercial reactive steel spinners MUST be placed as close to the berms as possible to prevent ricochets and skips.

11.     Firing at tin cans, blocks of wood, bottles, rocks, birds, animals, or any other object other than paper targets, or other authorized targets is strictly forbidden. (No frangible targets that create litter, except clay birds allowed).  Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

12.     Each shooter must police his or her firing area and deposit all used targets, trash, and backers in the proper receptacles before leaving the range.  Trash includes spent cases and hulls.   Rimfire cases are the exception.

13.     Some props may be left set up after matches for members to practice with.  Do not intentionally shoot at range props or range furniture or anything other than paper targets or designated targets.  Violation is considered vandalism and will be treated as such.  Target stands take hits but do not aim at them.  All club equipment must be properly stored after use.  Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

14.     POSITION ALL TARGETS SO THAT ALL BULLETS SAFELY IMPACT INTO THE BERMS.  DO NOT SHOOT INTO THE GROUND OR SHOOT LOW SHOTS ON ANY RANGE.  Targets must be set so as to insure that all bullets impact in such a way that they stay on the property and cause no safety problem.  This requires that targets be set so that the top of the target is below the top of the berm which must be immediately behind the target.  All rounds must safely impact into the berms.  DO NOT SHOOT AT THE FLOOR OF THE PIT OR AT ANYTHING ON THE GROUND, AS DANGEROUS RICOCHETS WILL OCCUR.  Being a member of EAGC does not give you permission to discharge firearms haphazardly.  If used properly no rounds will exit any range.  If a round leaves the range from YOUR gun YOU are responsible for where that round lands and the injury or damage it may cause.  Be Safe!! It’s not worth the risk.  Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

15.     Except at such times when a match or other organized activity is in progress, each member is responsible for locking the gate when entering and leaving the range.  Signs will be posted stating MATCH IN PROGRESS when the gate is to be left opened.

16.     RANGE HOURS AND RESTRICTIONS - The range is available for use from 0800 EST until sunset, 7 days a week, 365 day a year. There are no exceptions to these shooting hours.  You may arrive early to set up your equipment but no shots may be fired before 0800 EST.  Failure to observe this rule will result in revocation of your membership.

23.     Every member has the obligation to report anyone who is misusing the ranges, destroying property, or violating safety rules to the Gun Club President or designated Range Officers.

24.     The range is for the exclusive use by the club members, their guests and other authorized organizations.  Members are responsible for the behavior of guests and must remain with them at all times while on the range. Family members are also included in your EAGC membership as associate members.  These are defined as a spouse and children under age 19.  Your immediate family may use the range and facilities “FREE” and as often as you like, however only while (you) the card holding member is present.   You must accompany your associate member on the range, at all times.

25.     The “Guest Rule” is as follows: Members may bring a guest respective FREE FOR THE FIRST VISIT; and you may bring that same guest for a second and third visit for a fee of $10 each day.   Please have your guests read & sign a liability waiver (provided at the gate).  If they use our ranges, they are agreeing to all terms and conditions outlined there!  If they do not accept these terms and conditions, they should not use our ranges! (exception is if the guests comes strictly for match attendance) Note: On second and third visits that will necessitate a $10 fee, money is to be placed in the black mailbox at the gate.  The black mailbox is provided for guest fees and liability waivers.  Only three (3) guests may accompany a member for each visit. Note: The guest rules are a privilege. A guest is allowed “free” as an encouragement to join the club. Your club is dependent on a high membership count and your involvement in recruiting new members.  Please do not abuse the “Guest Rules”. Please be respectful to the membership of EAGC as a whole, and to your membership as well.

NOTES:

1.        On match weekends and set up days some bays will be closed and others may have props set and staked down but the bay may still be used.  If possible please do not move the props.  Talk with the set up crew or match directors and ask which bays are ok to use.

2.        The creek may swell at times and become impassable.  If this happens I will try to send an e mail out to members as soon as possible so no one wastes a trip to the range.
